I wrote a preview to Super Arcade Football all the way back in 2016, when I managed to play it at EGX. I said, “the beauty of the game is that it is simple to pick up and play!” Now I have the chance to play the game on Nintendo Switch, which leads me to […]
Dovetail Games tempt me back to the waters once again (see my review of The Catch: Carp and Coarse), and after 2 weeks with Bassmaster Fishing 2022 (and almost 1000 fish caught), I can unequivocally say that this is my favourite so far.Of course the basic gameplay is the same: catching fish, but the extra features […]
I’ve currently put almost 35 hours into Slay the Spire and have discovered that I have an affinity for deck-building games. So I was very interested when kindly offered the chance to review The Amazing American Circus.Apart from using cards to “battle”, there are many differences between Spire and Circus, so many in fact that […]
The Atari Collection 1 was my first foray into the marvellous world of the Evercade. Although I found it to be a mixed bag, I’ll always appreciate it because you never forget your first! Anyway, I can’t say I was brimming with excitement to review this collection, but did it exceed my expectations? Let’s find […]
Chris wrote a review about his experience playing the main Maneater game when he got a Platinum trophy on it on PS5, while I also wrote a review when I completed it on Nintendo Switch. I enjoyed the game so much that when I recently picked up an Xbox Series X with Gamepass Ultimate, I took advantage […]
If the complexity of SimCity or Cities: Skylines has put you off dipping your toes into “world building” games, then Islanders is the gentle (and addictive) introduction to the genre that you’ve been waiting for. Dropping you into your 1st random scenario (a series of small colourful islands) with little introduction other than having to […]
The Falconeer is a third person aerial combat game, where instead of being sat inside an aircraft, you are sat atop a huge falcon, all rendered in a visually pleasing art style that can often give a false sense of calm before throwing you into yet another dogfight with the enemy forces. Floating in the […]
Once again I find myself reviewing a simulation game where I’m not a fan of doing the activity in real life (see my fishing and hunting reviews), but put it into video game form and I thoroughly enjoy the experience. Lawn Mowing Simulator tasks you with, surprise surprise, mowing lawns. A necessary chore which I’m […]
The Namco Collection 1 featured some classic games and was generally a strong showing for the Evercade. Can the Namco Collection 2 top it? Let’s find out.Galaga – 1985I said in my Galaxian review that I get these two games mixed up. Now I’ve been able to play both, I still think they are very […]
Developed by Swedish indie game studio Neon Giant and published by Curve Digital, The Ascent is a third person isometric view twin stick shooter set in a multi-layered futuristic cyberpunk environment…phew! The first thing that struck me about the game was the incredibly detailed graphics and ‘living world’ that was before me. Bringing to mind an […]
