Review: Colony 4K UHD
Co-written and directed by Leon Sang-ho (Train to Busan and Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula), the “infected people on a killing spree” continues in Colony, now available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray.
A biotech conference is plunged into terror when a rapidly mutating virus is purposely released within the complex, leaving frightened people barricaded inside as the infection spreads and mutates. Needless to say, those not yet infected have a rough time in that building!
Sticking with the “infected people” theme of the aforementioned Busan movies, Sang-ho further develops them with the ability to now evolve a hive mind…think Pluribus, but these folks don’t think nice thoughts!
4K really highlights the great makeup work, as well as the amazing choreography of the professional dancers that were employed to portray a lot of the infected, contorting their bodies into all sorts of positions and throwing themselves around.
With shades of Dawn of the Dead (trapped in a huge space with shops), REC (the outside world are aware of what is happening) and a horror twist on Pluribus, Colony certainly has enough about it to keep you entertained…though the 2 hour running time would benefit from just a little trimming.
With great picture and sound, plus some lovely packaging, Colony is a great buy for any horror fan.
