The HOWL dog theft prevention app is here!
Our HOWL app is the first of its kind and we’re looking forward to inflicting misery on dog thieves everywhere. It works like this:
- Purchase the HOWL app. It costs £1.79; there are no subscriptions or in-app purchases.
- Your emergency contact will also need the HOWL app so that they can monitor your walks.
- Follow the guided setup process so that you have full functionality.
- Visit our Tips page here (or via the app) for safety pointers.
Whenever you go for a walk, remember to start your walk in HOWL. Send the unique session ID to your emergency contact and they’ll be able to monitor your progress. If you change your status during the walk (concerned, safe, or HOWL for help) then a notification will be sent to your emergency contact.
To HOWL for help during an active walk, tap three times in the app. These things will happen all at once:
- An alert (if selected) will be sounded from your phone as an audible signal to the would-be thief;
- The video camera will begin recording, helping you to capture evidence that could be vital to finding your dog and/or prosecuting the offender (as applicable);
- The date, time and precise location of the incident will be recorded for evidential purposes;
- A notification will be sent to your emergency contact that you have HOWLed for help; they will be able to see the date, time and What 3 Words location of the incident.
We’re so proud to be starting the HOWL movement and we’d love it if you would help us spread the word.
