I’ve been thinking about writing a review of the JXD for some time now, for two reasons. The first being that a number of people have contacted me to ask what I thought of it before they bought one. I’ve probably spent a few hours typing Twitter messages so it occurred to me that it […]
Rambo 3 Released: 1989 Platform: Sega Megadrive Publisher: Sega Developer: Sega This is my second Rambo 3 review and this time I take a look at the Sega Megadrive version. The game opens with a nice digitised shot of Rambo firing his famous bow and arrow at the player. The screen flashes white as the arrow is about […]
Blu-ray: The Adventures of Hercules II (1985) The Adventures of Hercules 2. Sequel to Luigi Cozzi’s 1983 mad fest. A star vehicle for body builder turned actor Lou Ferrigno, who was already know from TV’s The Incredible Hulk. Ferrigno is literally here to flex a lot as he is dubbed entirely by what sounds like […]
Blu-ray: Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine (1965) ‘Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine’. No, it’s not a new Rob Zombie song, it’s actually 101 Films new Blu_ray release of this obscure, ‘screwball’ sci-fi/comedy from 1965. Screwball is the only accurate word I can summon to describe what was offered up here. As far as the […]
Dual Format: Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls (1970) An all-female band try to make it in Hollywood with the aid of a new manager, Ronnie ‘Z Man’ Barzell (John Lazar). It’s rare I find it difficult to write about a film, but I must admit this one has me flumped. It’s all I can do […]
Altered Beast Released: 1990 Platform: Sega Megadrive Publisher: Sega Developer: Sega Is Altered Beast a bad game? Whenever Altered Beast is mentioned people always seem to say “what a terrible game” or “that game was crap!” My only memory of Altered Beast is that it was bundled with my Sega Megadrive. It had speech, big chunky graphics […]
Rambo 3 Released: 1988 Platform: Sega Master System Publisher: Sega Developer: Sega With Sylvester Stallone triumphing recently at the Golden Globes and being nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actor in the marvellous Creed, I thought it would be good timing to look at some of the games that featured one of his most […]
Action Fighter Released: 1986 Platform: Sega Master System Publisher: Sega Developer: Sega Spy Hunter is one of my all time favourite arcade games! You controlled a souped-up sports car armed to the teeth with machine guns, rockets, smoke and oil slicks. Imagine a James Bond car and you’re on the right lines. The way you […]
Cinema: The Revenant (2015) I remember watching the much lauded Birdman when it came out and thought ‘this is a bit annoying’; the soundtrack, the frenetic pace and visuals, the close-up camera work. The acting was good, the story a bit ‘meh’ and I was unimpressed. Having seen Inarritu’s other films (Babel, Biutiful) no one could […]
Virtua Cop Released: 1995 Platform: Sega Saturn Publisher: Sega Developer: Sega There was a time when Sega were the kings! They ruled the arcades and were extremely influential in the home console market. Unfortunately a few missteps and a lot of bad luck with the likes of the Mega CD, 32X, Saturn and the untimely demise of […]
