Film and TV

This is a film that deals with what it means to be human, and how to cope with death, but that all kind of fades into the background when you see Brad’s full lips and Tom chomping down on his neck. OOFFFFF(sorry).

It’s one of those films that needs to be seen for its acting, for turning characters on their heads, for the constant unease, for the script and story, for the sunshine and sweat.

A very enjoyable Sunday afternoon film to watch with your dad.

This is without a doubt a bit of a mad (long) film, but I enjoyed it. A great addition to the ‘I’ve never seen this but… wow’ shelf for 60MW.

Practical Magic should not work.

It’s a romantic comedy, a supernatural fantasy, a domestic abuse drama, a murder story and, for a while, a police investigation. Yet, somehow, that has become part of its charm.

Thirty years later, the film actually feels better to me than it did when it originally came out.

This is not an essential spaghetti western, nor is it one of the great Django films. It is, however, an entertaining example of the genre while it was still gathering momentum.

Subtle humorous moments, plus some (literal) toilet humour, had me smiling and laughing throughout. All climaxing in a wonderful end to the story that will long stay in the memory.

Johnny Handsome may not be top-tier Walter Hill (The Warriors and Streets of Fire being 2 of my particular favourites of his), but it is a lean and entertaining neo-noir

This is the best Troy has ever looked and a highly recommended upgrade. Just make sure you put aside either two-and-three-quarter hours or well over three hours, depending on which cut you choose.
