New single from ‘The Karma Effect’
London’s vintage rock powerhouse, The Karma Effect announce new single, MERCY, out today and taken from their debut self-titled album, out on TMR Rock Records on Fri 18 March 2022.
The song is the second single released from the album that includes their hit single ‘Steal Your Heart’ which reached #2 in Amazon Rock Charts and #6 in Amazon (all genre) charts.
Mainman, Henry Gottelier, said of the new single, “Mercy is a sexy, sleazy rocker, full of attitude and swagger and it’s a tale a power struggle. Not just between two people in a relationship, but the struggle that one person can have in their own mind between knowing a relationship is toxic, but still having that insatiable lust for someone.
“However, it is a fictitious story and in no way autobiographical. Honest!” he laughs
Formed at the start of the Covid pandemic buy a bunch of long-time school hood friends and musical acquaintances, The Karma Effect, are a 21st Century take on a classic 70s rock, roll n soul sound; big on keys, guitar riffs and huge vocal melody, all combining into a grandiose sonic soundscape that draws upon the best of yesteryear. Their debut album epitomises this philosophy. It’s a no-nonsense throwback, encapsulating the energy of good time, arena, rock n roll, brought bang up to date.
The album, The Karma Effect, features 8 scintillating songs, written in solitary bedrooms and over zoom calls as the world tackled (and continues to tackle) a desperate viral pandemic. Songs that have only recently seen the light of day via a handful of live UK shows.
Main man, Henry Gottelier, said, “Mercy was one of the later songs we wrote. As an album we realised we needed some extra sauce, something all hips and lips, high energy. But while it drives along, there’s still room for a great vocal hook in the chorus, supplemented by some awesome backing vocals. You’ll also notice the little nuances such as the additional guitar refrain in the second verse, and altering the lead in to the second chorus. It keeps it all fresh, even though its only 3 and half minutes long!”
Joining Henry on lead vocals and guitar, are: Robbie Blake (guitar), Seb Emmins (keyboards), Liam Quinn (bass) and Ash Powell (drums)
The guys play their hometown album launch show at The Crown Inn, Old Oxted on Fri 18 March 2022. Joining them as guests will be Hunted By Elephants. Tickets: https://fatso.ma/VobV
