Review: Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet: Frankenstein / The Wolfman
Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet The Wolfman (2000)
Alvin is obsessed with monsters! Despite his fascination for horror, he is having terrible nightmares. This forces his long-suffering adopted father, Dave, to get rid of all of his scary memorabilia. This should solve the problem, but is there a real werewolf living next door to the chipmunks, and will Alvin’s nightmare become true?
Alvin and the Chipmunks meet Frankenstein (1999)
Alvin, Simon and Theodore are performing their song and dance routine at a theme park. Little do they know that Dr. Frankenstein is bringing the monster to life in one of the attractions. The creature initially wreaks havoc, but the boys soon discover a gentle soul underneath the scary exterior.
Alvin and the Chipmunks are regularly on the TV in my house, so it was a no brainer that I was going to review these movies. I have two children aged 6 and 2. Both of whom can’t get enough of the squeaky furballs!
We even make a point of visiting the cinema whenever one of the live action movies is released. The last one being Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip.
I like the idea of classic horror characters being introduced to a younger audience, so was happy to show these movies to my kids. The animation feels a little dated compared to recent releases, but this is a criticism from an adult and I doubt kids will care.
Personally, I don’t get the appeal of Alvin and the Chipmunks, but it doesn’t really matter what I think. For the record I prefer Scooby Doo for my animated supernatural fun. The big question is; did my children enjoy the movies? The answer is a resounding yes! I asked my 6-year-old what she thought and she gave me a thumbs up and said she wanted to watch them again.
Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet The Wolfman and Alvin and the Chipmunks meet Frankenstein are released on 25thMarch 2019.
