Review: Coraline 4K UHD
4K UHD Blu-ray: Coraline (2009)
Here we go again, yet another ‘cancelled’ artist. Dare I mention Neil Gaiman? Sigh, well I have to.
Just as Gaiman was finishing the book of Coraline, he met Henry Selick, maker of The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach, and he invited him to make a movie of it.
You can’t help instantly getting Tim Burton vibes, it’s a Gothic story and is made by the guy who did the last 2 Burton animated films. But Coraline is a bit different, it’s scarier.
I remember back when it came out watching it with a friends kids and one of them was terrified!
It’s your typical fairytale, with an ungrateful girl getting involved with people who seem okay, but really want to pull out your eyes and replace them with buttons.
The thing about Coraline is the way it looks – It’s gorgeous and bright, yet dark and scary all at the same time, and it looks and sounds absolutely amazing in this 4K UHD release.
Bonus Features (included on the Blu-ray disc) include Making Of featurettes, an audio commentary with director Henry Selick and composer Bruno Coulais, concept art, deleted scenes, and more.
