Review: Dredge – The Pale Reach DLC
I very much enjoyed playing Dredge earlier this year (review here) and so was excited to try the 1st DLC for the game: “The Pale Reach”.
Everything I loved about the original game remains the same: the beautiful art style, the “go anywhere and discover” narrative that let’s you find the hidden stories as and when you like, the intuitive gameplay and the relaxation you feel as you cross the waters always tempered by a cautious feeling that anything could happen to change that at any moment.
The Pale Reach region appears at the bottom of the map and you can visit whenever you want, soon discovering a new colder and ice filled region filled with new quests for you to complete, plus new equipment for the boat…rods for the ice fish, an icebreaker for your boat, etc.
Your journey across the waters is often given a shot of adrenaline when a narwhal appears…though I won’t say anymore about those experiences and will let you find out for yourselves…just make sure that you have decent engines on your boat.
If you loved Dredge, then this extra portion of the map and all it contains is a must buy and will keep that Dredge itched scratched a little longer until the much anticipated Ironhaven DLC is released next year.
