4k UHD Blu-ray: I Spit on Your Grave (1978)

After reviewing the “I Spit on Your Grave Complete Collection” Blu-ray set by Kaleidoscope Entertainment back in 2020, I was delighted when Kaleidoscope announced they were releasing a 4K UHD Blu-ray of the original 1978 movie, accompanied by some fantastic extras.

The movie itself needs no explanation, an iconic entry into the horror genre it has divided audiences worldwide for almost 45 years now, but this new 4K UHD is like watching it for the very first time.

The picture quality is astounding, with colours popping everywhere, Jennifer’s initial walk into the woods had me constantly exclaiming how amazing everything looked with the greens of the grass and tress looking like I’d never seen them before, and the red of the boat would make Dario Argento blush with his fixation of that particular colour.

The cinematography by Nuri Habib really comes into its own in this release, drawing the eye to details I’d never previously realised were there, all thanks to this 4K restoration being taken from Meir Zarchi’s personal 35mm negative print.

The packaging is lovely and includes 3 discs: 4K UHD with extras, Blu-ray with extras, Blu-ray of Terry Zarchi’s great documentary “Growing Up With I Spit on Your Grave”…with even more extras. A new introduction and movie commentary by Camille Keaton is surely enough for anybody to buy!?

The 4 exclusive art cards included in this release are the icing on the cake.

With the best picture quality available, superb special features and some collectable art cards too, this is a must buy for any fan of the movie.
