Review: Nick Faber – Soon You’ll Be Mine
A steel guitar opening that puts the listener smack bang in the vastness of the American country next to a highway that goes who knows where. However, this isn’t a broken hearted confession from a Stetson and steel pedal riding cowboy but mournful bluesy-country-funk from the drifter at the side of that road with his thumb extended and story to tell.
As the harp blows and the keys kick in, our stranger lets it slip that he is on his way back home with unfinished business to settle and of course there’s a woman involved. Nick Faber’s voice has the right amount rawness and road dust coupled with the beat that eats up the miles. Close your eyes, listen and you’re standing next to him.
