Review: Seized
DVD & Digital: Seized (2020)
Nero (Scott Adkins) and his teenage son Taylor (Matthew Garbacz) are going through a difficult time after the death of Taylor’s mother, and just when the friction between them is coming to a head, their lives are thrown into turmoil when Taylor is abducted by cartel boss Mzamo (Mario Van Peebles).
Unbeknown to Taylor his dad is an ex-intelligence agency operative, and Mzamo wants Nero to do some dirty work for him (ie: killing a lot of rival cartel bosses) or else Taylor will be killed.
Forced into returning to the killing ways which he thought he had put behind him, Nero straps on some guns and readies his fists and feet for some bone crunching action.
Directed by Isaac Florentine, whom Adkins has had a long working relationship with, a gunfight or fistfight is never far away, and all very well delivered by Florentine considering the movies budgetary restraints.
Mario Van Peebles plays the bad guy role perfectly, leaving you just on the edge of believing if his intentions are true or not, while Adkins once again kicks peoples ass with aplomb…and all with the moments of humour that I enjoy about the roles he plays.
I’d love to see Florentine and Adkins teaming up together to make a big budget action extravaganza, but until then I have the likes of Seized to watch and enjoy.
