Review: ‘The Film Vault’ Goodfellas 4K UHD Limited Edition
4K UHD & Blu-ray: Goodfellas (1990)
What can I say about Goodfellas that hasn’t already been said before!?
A cinematic classic that is still just as powerful 30+ years since it first hit the big screen and is surely a part of any cinephiles collection.
Well 1 thing I can confidently say is that this ‘The Film Vault’ limited edition release is definitely a damn fine way to add it to your collection, whether you already own it or not. Containing the movie on both 4K UHD and blu-ray, as well as a host of special features and exceptional packaging…but more on that later.
Based on the real life of gangster Henry Hill (played superbly by Ray Liotta), we see him grow from a young man abused by his father in the 1950’s, into an assured gangster who has wealth and power at his fingertips…until it is all snatched away from him.
Showcasing director Martin Scorsese and actors Liotta, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Lorraine Bracco, Paul Sorvino and many more, all at the top of their game, Goodfellas is 2 and a half hours of gripping crime drama that hooks you in from the very first moment and keeps you glued to the screen until the end credits roll.
I shall give away no more of the narrative as I’m sure most of you will have already watched it multiple times, and for those of you who haven’t…lucky you, you’re in for an absolute treat…especially if you buy this ‘The Film Vault’ limited edition release.
Containing both the 4K UHD and blu-ray versions of the movie, this is an essential purchase for any movie collector, with the 4K picture retaining an authentic layer of film grain while giving a definite pop to the colours and contrast, revealing details in the night scenes that I’d previously missed in other releases.
Simply writing about the packaging and extras that are included in this release just wouldn’t do it justice, so please take 8 minutes to watch my unboxing video below where I go through everything that is included…subscribe to our YouTube channel too please so as not to miss out on any of our video content.
