Review: Flevans – Accumulate
Accumulate doesn’t hang around. The opener “Moving On” comes on sounding like a beefed up Spencer Davis track that drags the listener to their feet where they will stay for the best part of 42minutes 21 seconds.
Vocal duties are shared out with Laura Vane handling the funky stuff on tracks like “Hold Your Hands Up” and “Ten Feet Tall”. Label mate John Turrell keeps the fire going on a Northern Soul style stomper “Silly Games” and Scooby Jones gives a stand out performance on the slower thoughtful “Oh Bernice”
Since the dream move to Jalapeno Records in 2018 the Musician/Writer/Producer just keeps pushing forward and Accumulate takes up where his superb 5th LP ‘Part-Time Millionaire’ left off. Flevans easily holds his own on a label that’s hosting the best dance music artists in the UK.
Although released in the middle of a lockdown, the timing of it couldn’t have come at a better time. On your own? Stick on “Power Rocks You” and he has put you in the middle of a party with a fantastic guest list. At a time when new good-times music is needed more than ever, Flevans delivers with this one.
