Review: Mosley-It’s Complicated
Blu-ray & DVD: Mosley-It’s Complicated (2020)
Max Mosley and his father Oswald have lived ‘interesting’ lives, with their personal life often overshadowing what they have done professionally, and this documentary gives an insight into both of them.
Feeling more like an extended television documentary, the viewer is given an insight into the rich and privileged life of Max Mosley, who at one point explains about how he has ‘downsized’ to a smaller private jet to travel around Europe, and it is moments like this when any sense of empathy for the guy is somewhat eroded.
Briefly mentioning Oswald’s political leanings, along with some archive footage of him being attacked in the 1960’s, the focus is mostly on Max and his work within Formula 1 and his passion for increasing road accident safety in India.
Neither subject is delved into too deeply and you’re left wanting to know more about both subjects.
Skewed towards the more positive side of Max Mosley’s life, this comes across as almost a publicity promo for him, and although he has admittedly done some fantastic work both inside and outside of Formula 1 racing as regards to safety issues, I’d like to see a more thorough and balanced look into his life.
F1 enthusiasts will certainly get the most from this.
