Review: Raw Force
Blu-ray: Raw Force (1982)
A group of American martial arts students find themselves trapped on ‘Warriors Island’…how they got there is a story in itself, and all you need to know is that it involves a ship catching fire that is captained by Cameron Mitchell.
Warriors Island is inhabited by a band of strange monks who buy half naked females from a guy who looks like a cross between Adolph Hitler and Eric Morecambe. The monks give Adolph Morecambe (Eric Hitler?) large amounts of jade in return, then cook and eat the females in order to give them the power to raise from the dead the martial arts warriors who died there…obviously!
Inevitably the paths of everyone cross, resulting in (but certainly not restrained to) living vs dead kung fu action, copious amounts of (overly red) blood being spilt, and bare boobs…lots of bare boobs.
Raw Force is the kind of low budget ridiculousness that is an essential part of my movie watching, and it is presented here in a fantastic blu-ray release by 101 Films.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any sillier…it does. Just when you thought there surely couldn’t be any more boobs on show…some more appear. Just when you thought a man couldn’t fire an RPG at someone point blank range and miss…it happens.
Raw Force may not have the best acting, directing, cinematography, score, or anything else relating to cinematic professionalism, but it sure as hell is ENTERTAINING.
A 1980’s wild ride that will keep giving laughs on multiple viewings.
