Review: You’re Next Ltd Ed 4K UHD
4K UHD Blu-ray: You’re Next (2011)
Family reunions can be a bit stressful at the best of times, but I can assure you that none that you have sat through have ever been as nerve wracking as that experienced by the Davison family in the tense and bloody You’re Next, now available in a beautiful 4K UHD release by Second Sight Films.
As the family settles down to catch up with each other during a meal, it is violently interrupted when the house is attacked and invaded by a group of mysterious killers, each one showing no mercy for anyone that gets in their way.
Some of the house guests however are better equipped to deal with this sudden attack and begin to make a stand against the intruders. Will it be enough though to overcome this seemingly random act of violence?
One of my absolute bugbears in horror movies is when a (usually female) protagonist suddenly gets a chance to attack the “bad guy” with a weapon, then proceeds to hit them once, drop the weapon and run away…aaarrrggghhh!
You’re Next has a refreshing change from that, as one scene sets up for my personal gripe to happen again, only to see the female protagonist continue to hit/stab the bad guy until he’s just a grade above raw meat…hurrah!
Twists, shocks and red herrings are aplenty, as the narrative slowly reveals the truth as to what is happening, and then continues to have a few surprises up its blood stained sleeve.
As with all Second Sight releases, you’re assured of the best possible transfer accompanied by informative and entertaining special features, all enclosed in superb packaging and with some physical collectibles in the limited edition release too.
Another fantastic release from Second Sight Films that should be added to your collection before it sells out.
