Tina’s Top 10 Cinema Movies of 2017
A quick list of my favourite cinema experiences of 2017. If you missed any of them on the big screen, then make sure to watch them when they become available for home viewing.
One other thing: when you visit the cinema, PLEASE adhere to the Wittertainment ‘code of conduct’. I will not be responsible for my actions if you sit near me and you have a conversation, or can’t keep off social media for the entirety of the film, or make as much noise with your crinkly bag full of noisy snacks akin to Eric Morecambe doing his ‘catch an invisible item in a paper bag’ routine on an infinite loop…a reference for my generation there. All other code violations will also be met by far more than just a typical British tut and a sigh. You have been warned!
10: Guardian of the Galaxy 2
Hated by the critics, by loved by me. How can you hate a film that starts like THIS…? You’ve got that song in your head now haven’t you?
9: Brawl in Cell Block 99
My mouth is STILL agape!
8: Colossal
Have you seen this? Well do it NOW!
7: Beauty and the Beast
Well I AM a girl.
6: War For the Planet of the Apes
A fitting and engaging end to this trilogy.
5: Raw
You ate my what!?
4: Personal Shopper
This film is NOT what you think it is. NO spoilers but… ARGHHHHH!
3: Ingrid Goes West
Aubrey Plaza comes of age, and knocks it outta the park. A cautionary tale for all people reading this on their fucking phone.
2: Call Me By Your Name
Sigh…
1: Logan
The Best film of 2017. Heartwrenchingly and violently beautiful. Deserves best Oscar for film and for Hugh Jackman.
Honourable mentions go to: Dunkirk, Get Out, It, Atomic Blonde, Baby Driver.
Stinkers: Transformers: The Last Knight, Blade Runner 2049, Alien Covenant, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Geostorm, The Mummy.
