Review: CRKD Atom
The CRKD Atom is a small (7cm x 4cm) game controller that is compatible with Switch, PC, Mobile/Tablet and Smart TV’s, which at first glance looks like it is far too small to be of any use. However, after taking it out of the box (which in itself has a very premium look and feel to it) I soon discovered how wrong I was.
At these dimensions it is no surprise that it doesn’t have thumsticks or rumble, but all of the buttons and triggers feel comfortable and responsive. Each of them springing back in a satisfactory way after being pressed, and while it is never going to be the controller of choice for extended gaming sessions (though it does have a rechargeable battery that will give you up to 10 hours of play time), I was comfortable using it for a few hours at a time with no discomfort.
Connecting easily through Bluetooth, it constantly kept a strong connection with no dropouts and no noticeable lag.
Available in 8 different colours (we were sent the lovely Glacier Blue Edition that is translucent) it also doubles as a fashion accessory that can be attached to your keychain, backpack, jeans loop, or most anywhere you want to show it off.
It comes complete with a wrist strap and a USB-C charging cable, and at a price point of £19.99/$19.99 you certainly get a lot for your money, despite its diminutive size.
Fashion accessory, keychain adornment, portable gaming controller; whatever you use the CRKD Atom for the most, you won’t regret buying it…especially if you turn up at a mates house for some gaming, only to find they are one controller short for some multiplayer action.
