Review: You Might Be The Killer
Blu-ray: You Might Be The Killer (2018)
A man covered in gore is running through a dark forest at night….. he’s panicked and rings his friend Chuck (Alyson Hannigan) for help – only she’s hundreds of miles away in a nerd shop.
It turns out he’s Sam (Fran Kranz), head councillor at Camp Clear Vista, and he explains that a masked (a demonic mask?) knife killer is on the loose at the camp and he’s killed most of the councillors.
And that dear reader is about all I can tell you without spoiling this film.
The phone calls continue with Chuck filling Sam in on Horror lore (such as the last girl trope) in an attempt to help him.
Interestingly, the concept for this film happened in 2017 between writers, Sam Sykes and Chuck Wendig, via Twitter, where they had been discussing the slasher films.
I’d not heard of this film, which is weird for us because we seem to watch every horror released! And although this was made on a small budget and is quite ‘stationary’ – they don’t leave the forest or the shop – it’s hugely entertaining with fantastic PRACTICAL effects (yey!).
Essential viewing, especially with Halloween approaching, and loaded with entertaining special features.
