Review: Frankie Boyle’s Tour of Scotland

DVD & Digital: Frankie Boyle’s Tour of Scotland (2020)

While on a stand up tour of his native Scotland, comedian Frankie Boyle gives his own inimitable thoughts on the people that he meets and the places that he visits.

This DVD is rated 18 for good reason, as Frankie has never been one to hold back on what he says, and while some people may take offence to some of the things he says, I for one find him absolutely hilarious and with an unappreciated intelligence to match his razor sharp wit.

The different vocal introductions to each show while he is on a ferry perfectly set up each episode, while they are bookended with a monologue to camera that leaves you thinking about the subject matter while wiping the tears of laughter from your eyes.

The people that he meets and the places that he goes to show just some of the variety to be found in the gorgeous country that is Scotland, all while Frankie  expresses his thoughts in his laconic and understated way.

The only complaint I have about this series is that at only 4 episodes it is too short! I could have happily sat through many more.
