Review: Hard Miles
Digital Download: Hard Miles (2023)
I’m a sucker for movies based on true stories. Even more so when they are as well acted and enjoyable as this.
Hard Miles tells the story of Greg Townsend (Matthew Modine), a prison social worker who takes a rag tag team of teenage convicts with him on a 762 Mile Bike Ride from Colorado to the Grand Canyon to bond with each other, appreciate more things in life, and to help raise funds and awareness for Ridge View Academy.
Matthew Modine is as great as ever, helped by an engaging supportive cast, that despite consisting of the usual cliched characters, all gel together to create an enjoyable ensemble.
With some beautiful outdoor cinematography to accompany the groups journey, this is a visual treat. Of course the bicycle ride is a tough one, the stifling heat wearing down both body and mind as the miles go on.
There are no big surprises along the way, but the 108 minute running time spins by faster than the bikes wheels.
Inspiring, enjoyable and a feel good movie that we all need at times.
Hard Miles is available to rent or buy as a digital download from today.
