Review: Heart of an Oak
Cinema: Heart of an Oak (2022)
Heart of an Oak is a 2022 ‘wordless’ French nature documentary film directed by Laurent Charbonnier and Michel Seydoux. It features a huge old oak tree, which is quite close to the directors home, and was filmed over a year and a half.
It’s very difficult to write a review of a documentary like this, as it’s literally a film that watches all the animals that live in and around the tree. Insects, birds, squirrels and mice.
This is going to be the shortest review of a film I’ve ever done! Which is a shame as not being a filmmaker I can’t discuss it in the depth it deserves, because I am still puzzled at HOW these filmmakers did it!
The intricacies and emotion in this are truly astounding and it is hands down, one of the best nature documentaries I have ever seen. It’s just beautiful, and you’d think watching a film for 90 mins about a tree would be hard work, but it is as exciting as any Bond film.
5/5 from us at 60 MW Towers!
Heart of an Oak will be available in Select UK Cinemas from 12th July and then on Digital Download from 12th August.
