Review: Out of Sight
Blu-ray: Out of Sight (1998)
Based on Elmore’s Leonards novel, Out of Sight is one of those films that may have escaped some film fans, because the thought of watching Jennifer Lopez in anything fills them with horror. But the thing is, this is a ‘cool’ movie, soft and languid with laugh-out-loud moments and real sexual chemistry between its leads.
Told with flashbacks and the present day, hopeless yet amazingly handsome Jack Foley (George Clooney) along with former prison friends Buddy (Ving Rhames), and Glenn (Steve Zahn) decide to rob a fellow millionaire prisoner, Richard Ripley (Albert Brooks).
It’s a pretty labyrinthine plot, but it’s very effective and tells the story of these two mismatched lovers beautifully with whip smart dialogue, and some very funny scenes.
