Review: Zodiac 4K UHD
4K UHD Blu-ray: Zodiac (2007)
Perhaps director David Fincher’s best film, and based on the nonfiction books by Robert Graysmith: Zodiac (1986) and Zodiac Unmasked (2002), Zodiac tells the story of the very long manhunt for the Zodiac Killer, a person who terrorized the San Francisco Bay Area during the late 1960s and early 1970s with his random murders and torturing of mainly young couples.
He (it was a man) taunted the press and police with letters, sent bloodstained clothing from his victims and sent clues and ciphers to national newspapers. He was a killer who craved attention. Unfortunately this case remains one of America’s most infamous unsolved crimes. Nobody was ever arrested and as the film shows, the obsession with finding this killer ruined many lives.
When they decided to make the film, Fincher, Vanderbilt, and producer Bradley J. Fischer spent 18 months conducting their own investigation and research into the Zodiac murders.
This great 4K release from Warners has 3 discs, 1 blu-ray directors cut, the theatrical release on 4K, and the extras disc, and this is gold. Although the extra’s are from a previous release, they are absolutely chilling, and we see Fincher create this film along with the real people who were involved at the time.
Another great release from Warners.
