My history with the Sniper games starts with Sniper Elite 3, which I played co-operatively online with a friend. We had lots of fun working together as he would watch from afar, spotting enemies, as I snuck into a German encampment quietly taking out soldiers. The other game series we played together was Zombie Army […]
Blu-ray: Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) On one hand, it’s a bit jarring to see Sam Peckinpah’s notorious Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) so lovingly packaged on two discs with an accompanying booklet and a host of extras. After all it’s a film which seems to go out of […]
DVD: More American Graffiti (1979) In 1973 America was in a mess: a President deeply dividing the nation, its involvement in a war that no one wanted and the streets were erupting in demonstrations. It was a little surprise that American Graffiti a film that looked to an America a decade earlier and whose soundtrack […]
Blu-ray: The Anderson Tapes (1971) Duke Anderson (Sean Connery) is released after serving a 10 year jail sentence and immediately re-kindles his relationship with ex- girlfriend Ingrid (Dyan Cannon), much to the chagrin of her current boyfriend who is keeping her in a life of luxury in a swish New York apartment block. Jaded with […]
Blu-ray: Ghosts of Mars (2001) Movies set on Mars have never really had a good time of it and generally speaking, fared quite badly. Films like John Carter, Mission to Mars and Red Planet struggled to find an audience and were critically mauled. There are exceptions to the rule with The Martian and Total Recall […]
Blu-ray + DVD: Raising Cain (1992) Normally I’d give a brief synopsis but occasionally, as with Raising Cain, it’s best to dive right on in. Brian De Palma has long been derided for being a Hitchcock copycat, and anyone familiar with his work has to (somewhat) agree, that Hitch is an influence. However, Give De […]
Blu-ray + DVD: Willie Dynamite (1974) Resplendent in a wardrobe that Liberace would have turned down for being too ostentatious, Willie Dynamite struts the streets of New York with an attitude that’s bigger than his platform heels and his outlandish headwear combined. Pimping his working girls across the streets and business meetings of The Big Apple, […]
Blu-ray: The New Centurions (1972) Roy Fehler (Stacy Keach) is a law student who joins the L.A.P.D. to help alleviate the financial strain on his family. Partnered with Kilvinski (George C. Scott), a tough but fair veteran who is close to retirement, Roy slowly comes to realise that not only is the police force more important […]
Blu-ray: Vampires (1998) Scattered across the world, vampires exist in small groups hidden away in the dark recesses of abandoned buildings, killing their prey at night while the human population are unaware of their presence. A ragtag group of vampire slayers led by Jack Crow (James Woods) are guided by Catholic priests who have made it […]
Blu-ray: Smokey and the Bandit – The Complete Collection (1977-1983) Hey Pop Kids! Did you know that in the world before hipsters, the only people who were allowed to wear beards were tramps and members of ZZ Top? And did you also know that for most of the last century mobile phones had not been […]
